System Safety: SafeView™ Viewport Safety Covers, Low Pressure & ASME Certified Overpressure Burst Disks, and Pop-Off Pressure Relief BushingsSafeView™ Polycarbonate Viewport Safety CoversIntroductionMDC’s new SafeView™ viewport safety covers feature a protective polycarbonate shield (originally developed for fighter planes), and come with or without ultra bright LED lighting for quick and easy illumination of your vacuum chamber. SafeView™ safety covers provide maximum lighting while maintaining maximum viewing area. For ultimate vacuum system protection, use SafeView™ covers in conjunction with MDC’s top-of-the-line pressure burst disks.

![]() Low Pressure (LP) BDA-Series Burst DisksIntroductionMDC is pleased to introduce the new Low Pressure (LP) BDA-series burst disks for pressure relief below atmospheric pressure. Designed for use in UHV applications, the LP burst disks feature all metal stainless steel construction. Suitable for overpressure protection of systems with optional gas recovery.
ApplicationMost vacuum vessels are designed and constructed with internal vacuum joints and welds that are rated for an external load of one atmosphere. They are not pressure vessels and as such should not be subjected to positive pressure loads. MDC has developed a new Low Pressure BDA Burst Disk Series which have an ultra-low rupture pressure. MDC LP BDA-Series burst disks are offered with either 1.33 or 2.75 Del-Seal™ (CF style) metal seal flange connections. They can be fitted to any vacuum system where over pressurization is a concern. A gas recovery option with either 3.38" Del-Seal™ or ISO NW50 flange is available on the exhaust side of the disk.
DesignLow pressure burst disks have been engineered to be ISO 4126-2 compliant. They are constructed with a frustum designed metal membrane which is capable of sustaining a vacuum load. As pressure inside a vacuum vessel reaches 7 PSIG the disk membrane activates and fully opens, relieving the pressure in the system. The disk membrane is circular scored preventing fragmenting upon rupture and thus does not pose harm to local personnel or equipment. Once activated, the disk is not reusable and must be replaced to restore the vessel to an operational condition.

![]() ![]() ASME UD Certified BDA-Series Burst DisksIntroductionMDC's ASME BDA-series Burst Disks are UD certified for pressure relief above atmospheric pressure. They feature an all-metal stainless steel construction and are designed for use in UHV applications. These disks are perfect for protecting your system from over pressurization of your vacuum vessel when pressures start to creep up past atmospheric pressure.
ApplicationMost vacuum vessels are designed and constructed with internal vacuum joints and welds that are rated for an external load of one atmosphere. They are not pressure vessels and as such should not be subjected to positive pressure loads in excess of 1-ATM. For this purpose MDC developed BDA disks that are ASME UD certified to prevent the accidental pressurizing of a vacuum vessel. MDC burst disks are offered with either 1.33 or 2.75 Del-Seal™ (CF style) metal seal flange connections. They can be fitted to any vacuum system where over pressurization is a concern. A gas recovery option with either 3.38" Del-Seal™ or ISO NW50 flange is available on the exhaust side of the disk.
DesignMDC's ASME BDA-series burst disks have been engineered to be 10CFR851 compliant. They are constructed with a frustum designed metal membrane which is capable of sustaining a vacuum load. As pressure inside a vacuum vessel reaches 11.5 PSIG the disk membrane activates and fully opens, relieving the pressure in the system. The disk membrane is circular scored preventing fragmenting upon rupture and thus does not pose harm to local personnel or equipment. Once activated, the disk is not reusable and must be replaced to restore the vessel to an operational condition.

Pop-Off Pressure ReliefDescriptionMDC's pop-off bushing is designed as low cost pressure safety device to protect vacuum systems against over-pressurization during back-fill or from an accidental increase in pressure due to a system malfunction. The Pop-off pressure relief features stainless steel constructed body, spring and stem with Viton seat. They are designed for use in HV applications.
ApplicationMost vacuum vessels are designed and constructed with internal vacuum joints and welds that are rated for an external load of one atmosphere. They are not pressure vessels and as such should not be subjected to positive pressure loads in excess of one atmosphere. For this purpose MDC has developed our new line pop-off relief bushings to prevent the accidental pressurizing of a vacuum vessel. MDC pop-off pressure relief bushings are offered with NPT connections. They can be easily fitted to any vacuum system where over pressurization is a concern. MDC's pop-off pressure relief bushings have been engineered as a low cost solution for relieving vacuum system pressure. They can be adapted easily via a 1/2" NPT connection. As pressure inside a vacuum vessel reaches 10 PSIG the spring loaded stem raises allowing pressure to escape relieving pressure. Once over-pressure is reduced below 10 PSIG the spring loaded stem will reseat itself restoring the vacuum vessel to an operational condition.
