Q:
Why use a base well instead of a more versatile combination of collar and baseplate?
A:
Base wells are the product of integrating both a baseplate and a feedthrough collar. They provide the functionality of both components and replace one vacuum seal with a weld joint. The main advantage is the removal of an elastomer seal.
Q:
Why have metal seal flanges on a feedthrough collar that uses an elastomer as its main seal?
A:
The main reason is to be compatible with the devices or components that are to be attached to the collar.
Q:
How can a mixture of metal seal and elastomer seal components be attached to a feedthrough collar?
A:
The quickest way would be to use hybrid adapters to transit between metal and elastomer seals. Other than that, a custom collar can be built to exact requirements. Please consult the MDC technical sales engineers for assistance..
Q:
What modifications can be made to a surface science analysis chamber?
A:
Practically any modifications to meet your specifications can be made to the design of a surface science analysis chamber. Modifications to existing chambers are usually either cost prohibitive or physically impossible. Please consult the MDC technical sales engineers for assistance prior to construction of a chamber.
